He Said He Loved Me
Now i have had the demo of this song and when it came out this was the second single i thought oh no, my fave new band have Second Single Syndrome. But they've ironed out all the flaws of the song and made it dare i say it better than Heavyweight Champion of the World? The extended version isnt quite as good, its better to be short, sharp and shocking but it's still worthy of it's spot on this EP. You get so alone... was my least favourite Reverend single but the re-recording has done the world of good as McLure tells the story of a dilemma: go single or stay with your controlling man? its definitely a change in tempo as he goes funky almost soul-like in his attempts to create a growing army of fans. God is in the TV is back to quick tempo electro as he seems to be singing his own praises but this is to be expected of a frontman with more swagger and charm than Ian Brown, Liam Gallagher and Tom Meighan combined. My favourite song on the album is the live version as i have seen them live twice (3 times in edinburgh on 17th october) and it perfectly shows the Reverend's preaching at the start of the song and how the female vocalist laura shares a chemistry with him, what it doesnt show is his confidence, cockiness and ability to pack out any gig of any size anywhere in the country. You have to see him live to believe it as listening is only half the experience with this Reverend, he offers salvation of a different kind, salvation from mediocre indie music? step this way please
Somthing Different!
Cool Music, Love the band!
