Customer Reviews

It was worth waiting for!

It's great to see OMD back with a new album, and the new songs certainly have something special, combining the original OMD style with a modern twist.
My personal favorites on this album are: History of Modern Pt. 1, History of Modern Pt. 2, New Holy Ground, Sister Marie Says, and The Right Side? (which reminds me a little of Kraftwerk)

omd

some classic omd style tracks. I also agree with the reviewer re Right Side sounding like Kraftwerk. The start reminds me of Europe Endless from the classic Trans europe express album

History of Modern

Take away a couple of fairly naff (but tuneful) first singles off this album (Sister Marie Says included - smells of a marketing manager) and get down to the heart of the title track History of Modern Pt1, Pulse (coming to a gym aerobics class near you soon), The Future... , and The Right Side? and this is really quite a good album. Refreshing, slightly ironic (as always with OMD) and catchy. The Rights Side? is a favourite but I always had a soft spot for 8min laments... A great return, from an old fan who still has a TDK of Messages. Slap it on in the car on a long journey and keep it on loop.
