Burning the toast
This album is awful. Some of the horns are out of tune. The instrumental lines are uninspired at best. The chord progressions are basic, dull, and predictable. As for the lyrics, Tony Allen, if you are reading this, I think I speak on behalf of every single breathing human being who has listened to any of your tracks when I say, please stick to playing the drums. You are very very good at this. You are very very bad at singing or rapping or any kind of vocal expression. Avoid this album at all costs unless you find it lying on the street, in which case place it under the wheel of a parked car and hope.
mello grooves
Nice album from Mr Allen, only knew his drumming before- definately his strongest gift- but the whole thing works and creates a good atmosphere. Always a pleasure to have Damon Albarn's vocals on a track.. wish they did more Good Bad & Queen stuff tho. Check out their new project Rocket juice and the moon, its good & loose.
