Extensive touring on both sides of the Atlantic hasn’t spoiled the feisty spirit of this 15-member Irish combo or slicked up its folksy sound. The tone here is set by the opening track, “Praise Like Fireworks”, a celebratory number with the rollicking air of a '60s-era hootenanny. With luminous harmonies and acoustic guitar–driven rhythms, “Build Your Kingdom Here”, “Christ Has Set Me Free", and “Come On” invite comparisons to Mumford & Sons and Fleet Foxes. Of special note is “You Are My Vision”, a reimagining of the traditional hymn “Be Thou My Vision” that builds into a powerful collective act of worship. More subdued but still compelling tunes like “Desert Soul” and “Alabaster” are sung with quietly revelatory performances. Recorded at various church halls and private homes, Homemade Worship by Handmade People lives up to its title by keeping its approach simple and organic. What’s captured here is a heartfelt love for the Savior, expressed without guile or gimmickry.

I'm proud to be part of the collective!!

I managed to get a copy of this album from the London event, a full 12hrs before it being available in itunes, and I am sure it'll quickly make its way to top of my most played list.

Rend Collective Experiment have succeeded in following up their debut album with yet another infectiously upbeat and colourful collection of songs and hymns that put the spring back into the step of our daily walks with Jesus.

Three tracks deserve special mention (its tough though as the whole album is so easy to relate to): You Are My Vision, a loving revisitation on the classic Be Thou My vision, showing that God has made so many promises that should be looked at as a source of inspiration and Joy, not merely when things are tough. Second Chance, a beautiful glimpse into the heart of heaven. Second chances are so rare these days, that its refreshing to remember the countless chances we've been given at the cross. And no review of this album would be complete without mentioning track 6, Build Your Kingdom Here. This is a prayer all christians will find themselves joining too, the only thing more inspiring than singing and praying along with this in your own home with your headphones in, is being at one of the family gatherings with the band playing and larking about up front, opening themselves up fully before God, no matter where you are from, you will be dancing like you're Irish in no time! keep an ear out for the Stompf-fiddle!

Thank God for the Collective!! Forget the Borg - bring on the Rend!!

I eagerly awaited the release of this their second album & I have not been disappointed!! It's great to see (& hear!!) such an enthusiastic group of young people praising the Lord & not be ashamed so to do! I saw them at Summer Madness in July 2011 & was very impressed by them! Unfortunately I couldn't attend the Belfast launch of their new album but thanks to iTunes I was able to get it!!

Lots of great verve & beat - a great album. Thank you Rend Collective.
