Daft Punk - Human after all
Although the critics have shamed this album to be quite honest, I found it a fantastic mix of great songs. Having said that though, I must say that track 7, "On/Off", is not really a song, and should be a freebie when you buy the album, as opposed to a song which must be payed for.
Improper Derision
The fact is that Daft Punk have been at the forefront of revitalising dance for nigh on 10 years. This is no mean feat in itself, and so this album does not break the ground of previous efforts. Indeed, it is feasible to say that it is a watershed. It resolves the previous two albums into one glorification. Yes - it does make it more commercial and takes electro to the greater masses, but why should that be viewed negatively? Constructively, we should rejoice that it means that decent electonica moves beyond the boundaries of London/ Brighton. A high quality album that alludes to future endeavours.
So they're not the old Daft Punk....
...but they have to be commended for dropping the filter disco stuff now that everyone's doing it. Remember, both "Homework" and "Discovery" sounded like nothing else upon release, but soon became the blueprint for every dance music chancer out there. Even Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You" was imitated a million times over, though not once did anyone come near to repeating it's simplistic brilliance. So, you're all slagging "Human After All" off now but I reckon it'll all make sense in a year or so....especially as "The Prime Time Of Your Life", "Robot Rock", "Human After All" and "Television Rules The Nation" aren't that far removed from the likes of Justice, Digitalism, SebastiAn, Para One and all the other French artists currently (and thankfully) emerging from obscurity.
