Album Review

Linkin Park originally called itself Hybrid Theory and has retained that phrase for the title of its debut album. The "hybrid" in question is one of rap and metal. The guitars and drums lock into standard thrash patterns, over which singer Chester Bennington and rapper Mike Shinoda alternate in furious expressions of rage and frustration. "One Step Closer," the track released to radio in advance of the album's release, is a typical effort, with lyrics like "Everything you say to me/Takes me one step closer to the edge/And I'm about to break."

£4.99 for one of the best metal album you could own and with all of the bonus tracks including My December, its a godsend. Hybrid Theory is one of the rare albums that you can listen to and enjoy everysingle song. Linkin Park were one of the first metal bands i started listening to, and they are great. Music for the angry teenager

I bought this in 2000 when it was 1st released and i havnt yet put it down. one of the best albums i own. I am usually into far heavier music but this is simply brilliant. Linkin Park have pushed their unique genre to the best it could be in this record which I believe to be better than Meteora (which is a damb good album aswell) and the atrosity that is Minutes to Mindnite. Not a poor song on it - strong through out. Stand-out tracks: Papercut, Points of Authority and the memorable 'In the End' (although monstrously over-played). This is LP at the best they ever were and ever will be in my opinion. Worth every penny!

AWESOME!!!

I bought this album fairly recentley and it sounds amazing some of Linkin Parks best songs included in this album, Its great for when you just want to let off some steam. Best Songs are probably In the end, Papercut, One step closer, High voltage and pushing me away but all the others are still great.

Biography

Formed: 1996 in Los Angeles, CA

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Although rooted in alternative metal, Linkin Park became one of the most successful acts of the early 2000s by welcoming elements of hip-hop, modern rock, and atmospheric electronica into their music. The band's rise was indebted to the aggressive rap-rock movement made popular by the likes of Korn and Limp Bizkit, a movement that paired grunge's alienation with a bold, buzzing soundtrack. Linkin Park added a unique spin to that formula, however, focusing as much on the vocal interplay between singer...
