a real band of joy

for those familiar to the 2009 superb mini-album A Balloon called Moaning, the welsh dream pop threesome bring us a little taster from next years full album. A sonic car crash that fuses nineties shoegaze with the effervescence of a pixies/breeders start-stop, loud/quiet noise maelstrom. The band prove again that commercial niceties are tossed aside for a tune that carries more gears that lance armstrongs mountain bike. Miss them at your peril, and see them before they blow. You really do want to see them like this

Similar to Silversun Pickups. Saw them at Reading this year and they don't disappoint live either

After spending several years with the post-punk outfit Sidecar Kisses, vocalist/guitarist Ritzy Bryan and bassist Rhydian Dafydd left the lineup and launched the Joy Formidable, drawing heavily from shoegaze and noisy alt-rock to create their new group's sound. Formed in North Wales in 2007, the band later resettled in London, where original drummer Justin Stahley was replaced by Matt Thomas. The Joy Formidable began building a buzz in 2008, making appearances...
