iTunes Review

I Look To You is Whitney Houston’s first album in seven years, and only her sixth album in 25 years of recording. With her longtime mentor Clive Davis once again assuming the role of executive producer, I Look You to You shrewdly applies Houston’s talents to a variety of carefully selected material. On their two tracks apiece, modern R&B masterminds Akon (“I Got You”, “Like I Never Left”) and R. Kelly (“I Look to You”, “Salute”) do a fine job of balancing vintage Whitney with current trends. In the mold of the classic Whitney Houston ballads, “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” reunites the singer with David Foster, who wrote songs for The Bodyguard soundtrack. The song is an affecting and revealing expression of Houston’s injury and resilience in the face of personal obstacles. While “Nothin’ But Love” and “For the Lovers” perhaps try too hard to fit Houston into a modern club mold, Alicia Keys’ “Million Dollar Bill” is a timeless old-school disco jam that ranks alongside the singer’s classic uptempo anthems “I’m Every Woman” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”

She's back

An absolutely beautiful comeback album from Whitney, she deserves to do really well. All of these songs are fantastic, and I hope many are released as singles and go to number 1!

The Queen is back.

It has, for obvious reasons, been a long time since Whitney Houston released her last studio album and this is most certainly a welcome return for her. There is no denying that the voice has changed and is not as pure as it once was, but can she still sing? Definitely, and probably a hell of a lot better than many of her contemporaries. This album is a mixture of uptempo numbers (highlights being 'Million Dollar Bill', as well as the excellent 'Nothin But Love'), midtempo (of which the best is probably the duet with Akon-'Like I Never Left') and proper Whitney ballads ('I Look To You' and 'I Didn't Know My Own Strength' are both FANTASTIC!!!). So there's something for everyone on here and not one of the tracks on here is a filler.

Overall: Superb comeback album!!!

Amazing Album!!

She's back and what a great album! A must purchase!! "million dollar bill" and " I look to you" are great songs but the best by far in my opinion is "I didn't know my own strength". What a great comeback album from Whitney, can't wait for april 2010!!

Whitney Houston was inarguably one of the biggest female pop stars of all time. Her accomplishments as a hitmaker were extraordinary; just to scratch the surface, she became the first artist ever to have seven consecutive singles hit number one, and her 1993 Dolly Parton cover "I Will Always Love You" became nothing less than the biggest hit single in rock history. Houston was able to handle big adult contemporary ballads, effervescent, stylish dance-pop, and slick urban contemporary soul with equal...
