Customer Reviews
Fantastic. Beautiful and aromatic stuff...
Stumbled across this band last year and did nothing with the albums for some time. They just sat on my i-pod gathering metaphorical dust. Then on a long car journey I played them, and fell in love. Musically they are reminiscent of the mellow side of Bombay Bicycle Club, and yes, a little of Fleet Foxes. But this should not distract from their own melodic style and lyrical power. As an Englishman, they speak to me of a blending of the ghosts of English and American folk tradition - but this could just show my ignorance of an Australian heritage. This is not to say that they sound or feel especially folk orientated. Rather a modern, melodic sound with a definite nod to older roots. Not that it matters. What matters is that The Middle East produce a profoundly compelling sound and thoughtful, sometimes haunting lyrics. Now, what more could you ask? Go buy and listen.
