Seriously good new music

I came across Pete Lawrie on his recent (2010) tour, he was supporting another act at the 100 Club, long may it live, in London. Cutting a long story short, his set was far far better than the headliner, belw them away in my opinion and I've seen him and the gang twice since - supporting Corinne Bailie Rae and at one of his own gigs.

This new EP is a great showcase for his talent - it has all the features of a good Pete gig. Soulful vocals, beautifully crafted song writing and vocal especially on the ballad "Souvenir", and this one sports a good little funked up track, "Black and Blue". I can't wait for the re-mixes of that one. The last track "Motel Blues" is interesting - not sure if it's up to the high quality of the others - but it hits you square in the ears and can't be ignored. I love the title track, "In The End", it's a slow burner with strings and things, and once it gets going it's a Pete upbeat singalong foot-tapping good song.

I'm an old codger and not given to joining the ranks of the groupies, but this bloke has more talent in his little finger than most of the Saturday night wannabes put together.

If you like good music, download this EP!

Whether its a jolly 'pop' tune to lift your spirits, a beautiful, melancholy song to soothe your soul, a funky track to chill to, or a solid cover of a classic folk song, this EP has it all. Just a taster of Pete Lawrie's musical range, a rare talent (listen to the amazing lyrics). Be aware though, 'In the End' is one of those catchy tunes you will find yourself singing for days to come.
