In Your Honour

How brilliant is this album. The Foo Fighters come back with a masterpiece. In Your Honour has some of the best Foo Fighters songs they have done in ages, such as Best Of You, DOA and Miracle. Dave was going to release the acoustic side of the album as a solo project, but the idea for a double album was much better. And i am glad of the decision. I have said it many many times, Dave Grohl is a genius. My Rating on IYH is 9/10. Top 5 Disc 1 (tracks 1 - 11) 1 - Best Of You 2 - DOA 3 - No Way Back 4 - Hell 5 - The Last Song Song Ratings In Your Honour - 9/10 No Way Back - 9.5/10 Best Of You - 10/10 DOA - 10/10 Hell - 9/10 The Last Song - 9/10 Free Me - 8.5/10 Resolve - 7/10 The Deepest Blues Are Black - 8/10 End Over End - 9/10 The Sign - 9/10 Top 5 of Disc 2 (tracks 12-21) 1 - Over And Out 2 - Miracle 3 - Friend Of A Friend 4 - What If I Do? 5 - Razor Song Ratings : Still - 8/10 What If I Do? - 9/10 Miracle - 10/10 Another Round - 8/10 Friend Of A Friend - 9/10 Over And Out - 10/10 On The Mend - 9/10 Virginia Moon - 8/10 Cold Day In The Sun - 9/10 Razor - 9.5/10

The most confident and consistent album made by Dave Grohl and the gang

Loaded with guest appearances, and running at a sprawling 21 tracks (that's almost 85 minutes, people!), Foo Fighters' 'In Your Honour' was bound to please fans by sheer quantity. Surprisingly, the album holds its own throughout, thanks to extremely memorable songs, good performance and the narrowing down of the Fighters' sound. By confining themselves to a strict style for each disc, Foo Fighters have been able to focus their writing even more sharply aswell as their performance, and Dave's singing. Admittedly, the 'rock' side is the stronger of the two. It has many good songs which, isntead of relying on influences, fashion them into something all together more satisfying. Best Songs: Best Of You- Four minutes of un diluted, turbulent emotional rock and a proud moment for the Foos. DOA- Nothing else in the rock charts compare to tight, pushy, Pistols-y riffs in this song Resolve- Quite epic, fairly slow rocker which has an excellent ending. Good guitar riff too. No Way Back- Was quite an overlooked song until recently. Powerful drumming and a killer chorus. The acoustic side is more experimental in nature, but still has its share of good songs. Razor- Josh Homme of QOTSA lays guitar down for this. Cold Day in the Sun- Taylor Hawkins adds a unique vocal touch to this song. Uplifting in general, with more excellent and catchy riffage

Biography

During the last dark days of Nirvana in 1994, tapes of Dave Grohl's solo demos circulated among alt-rock royalty. Greg Dulli commented positively about them in more than one place, but few suspected that these homemade tapes would launch one of the biggest modern rock bands of the post-grunge era. As it turns out, that’s exactly what Grohl’s Foo Fighters became, perhaps the one band of the alt-rock revolution to enjoy continual success on the charts and on the road without a dip in popularity. It...
