Simply put, Akala may quite possibly be the future of British Hip-Hop. Smooth lyrics spit over a heavy bass-line, with samples as diverse and unexpected as The Clash's London Calling. Rap with passion whilst not having to resort to the 'How much money I have, how many people I've killed' lyrics that are all to common in contemporary Hip-Hip. Following in the footsteps of his sister Ms Dynamite, sure to soon have global success. Listen to 'Shakespeare', 'This is London' or 'Roll Wid Us' and you'll see what I mean...

The Future Of British R & B

One of the finest albums I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Akala's album oozes class as he skips neatly over quality riffs and beats. The moods of the songs on the album are as diverse and varied as the lyrics are deep and meaningful. Bounce around the room to Stand Up, Sing along to the catchy chorus of Carried Away, Cry at societys shortfalls while listening to Why Do and then smile as you lay back and relax listening to Hold Your Head Up. Add this to well known underground classics like Shakespeare and Roll Wid Us. Mix in the top song of the album Cold and you have a sure fire classic that I feel only hints at the capabilities of this rapper. Akala- Welcome to the commercial music industry, your album is magic and lets hope fans of British R & B back you up and buy this shizzle.

Wow!

For such an unheardof rapper, this is the most amazing album i have ever heard. Most English Grime is inaudible over obserdly heavy background beats and annoying voices attempting rap over the top. Akala is the first artist from London I actually enjoy listening to. The lyrics are so meningful and his life astounds me. Keep it up. Buy this, its amazing.

Kingslee Daley had a lot of career options before settling on the music business. A former youth team defender for both Wimbledon and West Ham football clubs, Daley was a straight ‘A' student, an athlete, and — at one point — manager of a restaurant, and all before turning 25. But it was as part of the British rap and grime scene that Daley would make his biggest impression. Taking the name Akala (a Buddhist term meaning immovable), Daley released his first album, It's Not a Rumour in...
