Fantastic!!
After a long time Bollywood has churned out an album worth every penny that its being sold at. After the music in Rang De Basanti by the brilliant AR Rahman, this seems the most complete album to support a film theme out there that has been heard in the last two years. Fun and sensitive in its design, it appeals to the ears greatly. The melodies and rhythms in the album with beautiful synegry of western sounds with indian ragas makes this album a delight to hear. It wouldn't be far fetched to say that the lyrics in the album are akin to songs in the 70's, a time I consider to be rocking for entertaining, original hindi films songs. Jhoom is a very good song, that features on the album 4 times in various versions. While Ticket to Hollywood, Bol Na Halke Halke and Kiss of Love are jovial and romantic they still have Gen X attracting qualities. Thats what sells albums these days but in this case its a good example of music that will appeal both to the classes and masses. The vocal performances in the album are noteworthy. Shankar Mahadevan and Alisha Chinai stand out while Vashundra Das and Vishal Dadlani make a mark. After the legend and genius that is AR Rahman, not barring the rise of music director Monty (Black), Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are increasingly presenting soundtracks that are entertaining, intricate and musically rich. With Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, S-E-L make it clear that they are capable of composing excellent soundtracks for movies provided they are given the scope to do so freely. They also make it clear that they are indeed complete modern day movie composers who can stand shoulder to shoulder with a composition genius like AR Rahman. To say that one can match up to sounds that AR Rahman churns out is a great feat in itself. Many of the sound and tune construction elements in this album are reminascent of the quality AR Rahman composes at and JBJ is of that quality. Get the album, the official version, crank up the volume and ENJOY!

seriously, what a terrible album. Jhoom the title song is ok nothing that will be remembered for more than 2 months - this just feels like more routine crap that bollywood is churning out...
