Another "New Album" of reissues

King's has issued yet another new album of old recordings with a few new recordings thrown in. Why? Most listeners who buy King's recordings have these performances already; do we really want them again, just to hear a few new recordings? Sadly, if we want to hear all of the new music recorded here we have to buy the whole album. Just issue a new album of new and interesting music. Unfortunately the new recordings do not stand up well against the older recordings on the album. On the new recordings the choir make some very nice sounds, but often you hear too many individual voices. Some of the boys sound like wobbling old women! Some of the sounds are strange. Maybe this is the fault of close microphones. I don't understand the fixation that sound engineers have of placing microphones close. I want the experience of listening to a choir blending in the beautiful building rather than the sound of individual voices. This is a very disappointing reissue of old material, easily available elsewhere, mixed with new recordings that do not present this choir sounding its best.

40 Magnificent tunes for £3.95

This has to be amongst the bargains of the year containing as it does the cream of English tunes and all for £3.95. Of course the album contains something old , something new and something borrowed . If you want to spend many pounds in these straightened timesdo so;but go figure first.
Take your hard earned cash and invest in this album you will not be disappointed.
