Customer Reviews
Joy Division of the Merchant Marine
British Sea Power are the best kept secret in English rock but the energy and grandeur of this new EP suggests that the secret will shortly be de-encrypted and set free for all to enjoy. The sweep, scale and perspective of BSP's "High Church amplified rock music" makes most indie music seem callow and parochial in comparison. This is a band not afraid to tackle history's big moments, delivering their findings with the do-or-die passion of a pranged Spitfire pilot making his last transmission before a final landing in the Drink. Like The Fall, the novels of David Peace or a dark, bottle-conditioned ale, BSP are not an easily acquired pleasure but once you have done so, nothing else will do. England expects – in BSP, she will not be disappointed.
back and better
The first two albums from British Sea Power resulted in a loyal legion of fans - and if Krankenhaus is anything to go by the forthcoming third album should see the numbers swell further. Inventive, original and anthemic - this is English indie music at its finest.
Sublime
British sea power have somehow managed to never get to the level of fame and recogniton that many lesser british bands have obtained, despite rave reviews and two fantastic albumns. They have created a loyal 'superfanbase' which have supported them through the tougher times, and i hope with their new record they will only expand and let BSP earn some rightly deserved respect. Their fantastically poetic indie-rock should be recommended to all
