Murcof has once again delivered an album of works that are at the forefront of electronic music composition. I know people who hear to this sort of music from other artists and find little in it. They believe that anybody can twiddle knobs until they 'come up with something'. The trouble is they are often right and the world is full of electronic albums based on a few recycled small ideas repeated for a long time. Murcof offers something above what many others offer - a critical ingredient - taste. The sounds and their combinations are worked out carefully in highly musical ways bringing this type of composition to the ear of serious listeners. There are no cliché drum beats, no long loops with no momentum. Every event is a new creation. The sounds are crafted carefully and sit in their own clear sonic space (i.e. mixed well). There is much warmth and dialogue to be discovered in this album. Listen carefully - this is art taking place. JM
