Fantastic

You may think 7 songs and 16 minutes is an EP, but actually it is a perfect statement from a genuinely exciting rock band. While many over-hyped bands claim new, fresh rock ground for themselves (think Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys), this Canadian band serve up the freshest album I have heard this year. It is like The Strokes, but with the excitement notched up to 11, and none of the irritation. The songs, wonderfully, clock in around 2 minutes - there is no spare air, never mind any wasted space. When A Lesson In Crime hit the CD player, it stayed there on repeat for ages. Heaven knows what might happen with a full-length album. For now, we should be grateful that 16 minutes this great can still find their way onto a disc, and that guitar-based rock does have plenty of space left above the Arctic Monkeys.

I know it's a cliche...

... but Tokyo Police Club WILL be the big thing in 2007. There's is absolutely no way that they can't be. They have the look, they have the hooks, they have the studied Strokesian cool. But, most importantly, they have TUNES. Often, it's hard to distinguish where verse ends and chorus begins. Indeed, the layers are subtle here - like The Strokes, but minus Nick Valensi and plus a keyboardist. They have some good songs ("Citizens Of Tomorrow"), some great songs (Cheer It On) and some downwright ANTHEMS ("Nature Of The Experiment"). Yes, essentially they do specialise in angsty, Strokes-esque electro-pop, but dammit it's good. Pay close attention.

its true they sound like the strokes nly betta! hu cares if its 15 mins long, all of the songs are brilliant. it may take u a while to appreciate this album (?) 's brilliance but u will sooner than l8er find these tunes going round n round ur head. u wont be dissapointed. for me, the best songs are shoulders, nature, citizens, cheer, if it..., be good la ferrassie and cut cut. hold on! dats all of them!!!
