Crackin single. Pure and Simple. The Longsands deliver yet again.
Yet again the lads from the North East are flying the flag. An absolute gem of a single.
They represent whats great about British music. Meaningful lyrics, hair raising vocals, superb melodies and a real empathy of whats happening in an around the UK with regards to corrupt politicians, mob culture, drinking down your local etc. You'll be singing along in no time, getting ready on a friday night down the toon with this blasting out your living room.
Let Love Rain on You will simply blow you away. Streets & Pavements with its inclusion of Gallagher at the beginning, show the genius in the song writing. The Longsands are doing the British music scene proud. Surely its only a matter of before the band are destined for bigger things. Download, enjoy and spread the word! Going Backwards ?
This is a dreadful single and I fear The Longsands are going backwards. For the last 12 months they have oozed potential and looked destined for a big break. This latest release is more 'back bedroom' than big breakthrough. They deserve better guidance if this is anything to go by. Time for an album and a relaunch of Little Britain if they are to move up from Newcastle pub band. I really hope they make it but I fear they might not
Just grows and grows on you...
Another tremendous single release from The Longsands boys. The standard of their musical catalogue just keeps getting better and better. Streets and Pavements is not as anthemic as Little Britain on first listen, but it gets in your head.. and just doesn't want to go away. Another tremendously strong and clever set of lyrics from Ian Barnes.
Backed up here with Let Love Rain On You in a double A side (does releasing these two tracks as double A detract from their individual strengths?) this track is a lot 'darker' but shows off Trev's vocal strengths to a tee.
Cant believe how these lads are not getting a much wider recognition given their talent which is immense on its own, but even more so when lined up against the raft of dross around at the moment.
You won't be disappointed in either of these tracks. Cant wait for the album.
