This dysfunctional family/road movie by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris was one of '06's most delightfully skewed comic treats. Its soundtrack is no less inventive, complimenting the film's human foibles and left-field laughs with an impressive feat of musical alchemy, teaming Canadian film scorer/new age artist Mychael Danna with eclectic Denver indie outfit Devotchka for the bulk of the score. The unlikely teaming's evocative, cabaret-meets-Morricone conceits bring a stately focus to their collaborations, while never hampering the muse of either artist. Contemporary singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens also contributes a pair of smart performances whose arrangements are well-synced to the Danna/Devotchka musical axis, while Tony Tisdale's "Catwalkin'" and a slinky remix of Rick James' "Superfreak" give the collection welcome doses of club-savvy sass and pop kitsch relief.

Best Film soundtrack i've ever heard
This soundtrack is the soundtrack for my life, it being one of my fave films this year, it brought me and my girlfriend together, the soundtrack itself is as good as the film. key tracks are "the winner is" possibly one of the greatest 3 minutes ever, you love me, no mans land, chicago, superfreak, it has to be said and finally how it ends. pure greatness
top film, top soundtrack!
If you have seen this film you are probably still laughing. It's superb!!! This soundtrack was sold to me as soon as I saw Sufjan Stevens's Chicago was amongst the track list. Its probably one of the best on here in fact, and it also was the song that opened and samples of it in How it ends closed the credits of the film. Never heard of Devotchka before but wow they certainly leave an impression.
Wonderful film and soundtrack
I went to see this on friday and wow what a film....this soundtrack embodies the heart and sould of this wonderful fiim. The soundtrack carries so many different emotions of which everyone will be satisfied with......GREAT
