Genesis live and raw...
This album for me has the greatest opening song of all time on any live album.....buy this just for Watcher of the Skies. The orgtan intro, the collins drum beat and Gabriels gruff voice,, The album is like nothing else and the tough raw sound is awesome. Forget all the new prog this is the one to get. From Watcher to The Knife this album delivers. The Musical Box has one of the best heartfelt endings in music and the heavy ending to Hogweed is Genesis live and raw. Get it, lock yourself in your bedroom and relive the dark days of the early 70's....
Live and Real and Fantastic
This music is nearly a third of a century old. But it still cuts into my feelings like a knife; like The Knife perhaps. The power, complexity and melodies are fabulous; and they are live. No sequencing, no careful artificial computer trickery; just honest to goodness experts who create fantastic music. The overall atmosphere is dark and brooding, with minor and major keys mixing together to create soundscapes and emotional repsonses that are so rare nowadays. I was shouted at by my Dad for listenting to to this album too loudly on headphones. He is long gone now, but the music lives on, and I am glad I did listen.
Genesis - still alive
Still sounds great after all these years . You have to be there really to appreciate 'Watcher ' visually . The stage is dark as Gabriel stands stock still with stange bat head gear slowing emerging from the darkness. In the old days they normally started the set with this . As the intro music builds we held our breath transfixed by 'the man'.
