Love Amongst Ruin deliver an exceptional debut
Steve Hewitt- former sticksman with Placebo- releases this album with a shocking change- he has moved from the driving beat of a band to take the lead and front his own band.
The album is well constructed- overtones of Queens of the Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails, with a variety of songs that build you up and take you down...
It has a theme of a break-up album, without being bitter - a reflection on the split from his former band although he never mentions this.
His voice is remarkably suited to the music- for someone that has only done backing vocals previously he excels
The song writing is well accomplished- but no surprise as he was a huge part of the songwriting input/output for Placebo...
if there is one low point within the album it is probably LoveSong... it doesnt appear to fit with the rest of album... but dont let that stop you
You should definitely get this album and play it loud and hard

Great 1st Album
After being a Placebo fan for over 10 years, I had to admit I approached Love Amongst Ruin with some trepidation. Any doubts I had were wrong. This is a truly fantastic first album with songs that really stick with you. Lovely to listen to again and again on repeat!
A great debut
A brilliant 1st album from this band, looking forward to the 2nd one. A great live act if you can make it to a gig.
