THE BEST

The live tracks here are just SO good, oozing with swampy sexy feeling. Worth buying just for them if you ask me. Singles great shouldve been/could still be No1. Remix is different for The Verve, might take a few more listens, not enough guitar for me, Nick McCabe is amazingly special and they could've used some of his ambience here and there maybe....

Awesome

A decade waiting was worth it. Brilliant single signifying that classic Verve sound of psychedelic space rock! This is great, and what makes it even better is the b-sides, particularly the 2 live tracks, which make wonderful collectibles. Ashcroft even says at the start of the live track 'A Man Called Sun' that it's the best b-side ever, and hearing it live it's hard to disagree. The studio recording of 'A Man Called Sun' is on The Verve EP which you can buy on itunes, and again is highly recommended.

Same but different

Don't think this not being Urban Hymms is a bad thing, it was the worst of the 1st 3 albums they released. To be fair the best things they have released are generally the B-sides or older stuff. The Verve are still an amazing band, and if you want Urban Hymms then listen to Urban Hymms don't expect them to churn the same stuff out over and over again.

By no stretch a study in overnight success, the group's rise was instead the culmination of a long, arduous journey that began at the dawn of the decade and went on to encompass a major breakup, multiple lawsuits, and an extensive diet of narcotics. Perfecting an oceanic...
