Sublime sounds and songs

Half British, and half other-nationalities, Misnoma's debut "Make it Right This Time", pours a warm and tasty brew from the Barcelona melting pot. Frontgirl extraordinaire Ayesha floats her flawless voice over lush, funky, organic grooves, stirred with electronica, jazz and world flavours. Moving, consistent, integrated, but varied. Sublime moods and proper songs deliver the proverbial "musical journey" for real here. In fact the album seems designed for play on "repeat" mode as the final earthy echoes of "I Know Now" connect seamlessly with the first ominous ticks of "The Bomb". Maybe, as in life growth and relationships, "Making it Right" is more about a cycle of rebirth than any final arrival? Nice to hear a new album conceived as a "complete work" in these days of compilations and buy-by-the-song. Production-wise, Misnoma's sound works great for lounge listening, blending real instruments and voices elegantly with samples, beats and trickery in equal measure. But it's on a decent hifi or headphones that the arrangements' depth and detail really reveal themselves. I've been listening to it on my iPod every day on my way to work, and I notice something different every time. Some moments even give me *shivers* - always a good sign. Fans of Cinematic Orchestra, The The, Sade, EBTG, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Portishead, Massive Attack, Galliano, or Morcheeba . . . miss no more. Misnoma has what you need now. Highly Recommended.

Unmissable!

Fabulous chilled-out grooves, gorgeous vocals, warm and glossy production. Easily up there with the likes of Zero 7 and Morcheeba (though I think Ayesha puts Skye to shame). "Hit Baby" and "Joey Nothing" are my faves, and "Step alone" really stands out from the crowd - it's not often you get cellos and sitars cooperating. Congratulations James & Misnoma!

Great production and excellent live too

Very iPod friendly - sounds amazing on headphones with multi-layered sound. Yet I saw them at Shambala in the summer and they rock live too.
