RIP VAST
Rename and move on... not the same band that stopped me dead in Tower Records and made me buy the album on the strength of one song being played instore. Don't mind the change of style, sharks stop swimming they die and all that, but the quality of song seems to have gone.. wheres the originality. One mans opinion I may be and someone out their will like it. Maybe some new fans are inbound.
Not what they use to be...
This is not what Vast use to be and that was a rock band with a tiny twist. Even though this is classed as a rock album, it's more acoustic with hardly any rattling electrics going off. The song writing isn't bad but because each song is an acoustic song, it all sounds a little similar to the last track played and by the end of the album the cliches in lyrics end up making you want to listen to Bryan Adams or Bon Jovi instead because as cheesey as they are, they're just so much more enjoyable than this. Vast need to mix it up like they did with Visual Audio Sensory Theatre, Music For People and Nude. Since these albums it feels as though Jon Crosby has struggled to find a new sound. Bit of a shame but I still have hope that things will come back to being amazing once again.
VAST are pure genius...
VAST are without a doubt one of my fave bands ever and i love every album they have ever done , jon crosby is a genius and a legend and this album is amazing fair enuff they may have changed there sound but they are still great songs and this is a great album indeed , i have heard that there next album will be a welcome return to there old sound But no matter what i cannot fault this band they are pure genius and this is a strong album , you will not be dissapointed!
