Album Review

At the dawn of the decade, Papa Roach were one of many angst-ridden, tattooed alt-metal bands who mixed in rap with their grim guitars. At the close of the 2000s, the quartet has shed the rap and the angst, ditching all the alt-metal accoutrements to become a knowing update of an '80s Sunset Strip sleaze rock outfit. This is indeed the Metamorphosis hinted at in the title of their fifth album, and while it's possible to debate whether this transformation was inspired by creative or commercial motivations, there is no denying one key fact: Papa Roach may be all about parties now but they're still kind of grim, perhaps a result of the decision to bring back producer Jay Baumgardner, who helmed their 2000 debut, Infest. Still, Papa Roach is a long long way from the depths of Hinder — that decade of work does give the band a professional snap, plus it never quite seems that Jacoby Shaddix's heart is into slagging that "Hollywood W***e" he berates on the album's first single. [This edition includes two live bonus tracks.]

The legends are back!

Papa roach are back and have evolved into something new and equally as great as before change or die has mosh pit written all over it! cant wait to see them at download! the lyrics to the album are universal and feels as if the album is talking to you. the live songs are the perfect bonus to an amazing album i just hope they release a live album now! great album guys keep up the good work!

sleaze rock for ten year old girls.

this is the work of a band which merely jumps on the bandwagon of whatever is popular this minute. theyve been nu-metal, then emo.. and now they are trying to be Buckcherry. they might be ok musicians but they dont live and breath rock and roll like someone who isnt just playing a roll.

Papa Roach never cease to amaze me

Since their early album Infest, Papa Roach have matured and grown to be one of the greatest rock bands of the present, past and inevitable future. Metamorphosis is a prime example of how Papa Roach and more importantly, Jacoby Shaddix (vocals) can adapt to new styles of music and how the band can succesfully appeal to new music audiences worldwide. I've become a great fan of this album and have become addicted to Change or Die, I Almost Told You That I Loved You, Lifeline and Had Enough. These songs are both catchy, moving and kickass all at the same time, most qualities newly formed and inexperienced bands can only dream to achieve. I saw them last night at the O2 Academy in Birmingham and they absolutely blew me away. This was my first gig and they played all of my favourite Papa Roach songs and all of the songs I wanted them to perform from this album. I don't think any live performance I go to this year will be as good as Papa Roach was. I highly recommend buying this album and take my word for it, you will not be dissappointed !
