Minutes To Midnight

I didn't know what to expect with LP new album. They said that they didn't want to be known as a Nu Metal band and that this album would be alot different to their previous albums. After listening to it this morning after buying it, i can say it is not what i expected. It is brilliant. I was a little reluctant in buying it because i perfered the sound of their last two albums, Meteora and Hybrid Theory. But the new sound is a step in the right direction and it is not a disappointment at all. If you like Linkin Park then buy it. The more heavier tracks on the album are No More Sorrow, Give Up, What I've Done and Bleed It Out. The softer sounds on the album come from Leave Out All The Rest, Hands Held High and Valentine's Day. Overall it is a good third album. (I still don't think it is better than Hybrid Theory or Meteora, but it does come very close). My rating on the album is 9/10. amazing new album from linkin park, i really like their new direction they've seem to have taken their music. The newer style of songs has also really impressed me proving that linkin park is a diverse band capable of mastering many sounds and types of music. 1. Wake - intro track really cool guitar riffs here, almost sounds Muse like at the start (which is not a bad thing!) 2.Given up- catchy rock/punk song has all the elements of LP that the older fans will recognise 3. Leave out all the rest - beatiful slower tempo song, mike and chester have really improved their lyrics. 4. Bleed it out- First time we hear Mike rapping, upbeat song thats got a catchy chorus/ rapping reminds me of Mikes fort minor efforts- good stuff! 5.Shadow of the day - Gorgeous song! reminds me slightly of U2, another slower song 6.What ive done- Gets better every time you hear it 7. Hands held high- Mikes rapping here agian, wasnet sure of this song at first but grows on you, military style drumming from Rob 8. No more sorrow- This song is one of the heaviest LP songs in a while! awsome song, play loud! 9. Valentimes day- another gorgeous slower song, really shows how diverse Chesters voice is 10. In between- Mikes is singing here! he has a lovely soft voice that really captures the meaning of this song 11. In pieces- my favourite track, starts popish then ends in a total rock song. Brads guitar solo really shocked me its amazing! 12. TLGYA- A really epic song, shows the change in LP over the years Overall an amazing album and well worth the buy!

takes just minutes to fall in love with

Linkin Park surprised the world when Hybrid Theory came out all those years ago. The sound was fresh, and most rock fans fell in love with their first listen. But now LP have re-defined themselves. Their sound is darker, moodier, the songs are slower, melodic, yet still it contains that certain 'je ne sais quoi' which identifies them. Songs like 'Given Up' harken back to the punk rock origins of some of the band members, whilst 'Hands Held High' is a soft, slow, and poigniant rap record. This album is a different kind of Hybrid Theory, where Linkin Park don't fuse all their different backgrounds into each song, but each background gets expressed in an awesome fashion song by song. LP fans won't be disappointed.
