Wonderful and unique
I heard Paul playing live last night, and loved his music. I particularly liked The Need for Biscuits, and What I Call Romance - oh, and Should Have Learned. A wonderful acoustic set, and clearly a very talented singer and songwriter. Definitely recommend this!!
Well crafted second album
Name in Lights is the second album from singer/songwriter Paul Bell. Although a live album all the songs are new, instead of being live versions of old songs (although "The Need For Biscuits" is actually and old favourite, but not released before). If you don't know Paul's music, the style reminds me of Jack Johnson. The songs are a good mix of deep thoughtful lyrics (like "Name In Lights" or "Tuvalu") and more light hearted (like "The Need For Biscuits" or "Sock Drawer"). Paul's first album was good but this reaches new heights and the more I listen the better it gets. Although it's an album full of great songs, my favourites are "Should Have Learned", "The Need For Biscuits" and "Time Is Right".
