Album Review

National Treasures is a comprehensive singles collection from Welsh rock band Manic Street Preachers. Spanning just over three decades, this chronicles the band’s incredible musical and personal journey. Singles from the guns-ablaze debut of Generation Terrorists, the dark genius of the Richey Edwards-led The Holy Bible, and the intelligent, stadium-friendly rock of Everything Must Go and beyond are all included. It also features the Heavenly Records-released debut single "Motown Junk.", Rovi

International Treasures

The Manics essentially changed my life. When i was introduced to Generation Terrorist it opened up my world beyond to writers, philosophers and artists i was not aware of.

Some people came to the Manics early in their career, some later, some still think a Design for Life is a great call to getting drunk. However you discovered them be thankful that you did.

This album highlights what a tremendous back catalogue they have and although it doesn't include some of the fantastic album tracks i hope it encourages people to dig a little deeper than the singles.

Most fans will have the majority of the tracks but the inclusion of all the videos is great especially as it means i don't have to watch my VHS copy of the Generation Terrorist singles.

I would like to point out that this is not the definitive collection of Manic Street Preacher singles. It fails to include their 1988 self financed single Suicide Alley but i assume thats to keep the 300 of us that have a copy of that happy and slightly smug.

Manics are gods!

An essential album, so many hits from a band with so much to say. The manics matter and never more so than now.

Wales' national treasures

Fitting end to a few years of almost constant touring and album releases. Time for the manics to have a well earned rest and come back with a stormer of a comeback.

Dressed in glam clothing, wearing heavy eyeliner, and shouting political rhetoric, the Manic Street Preachers emerged in 1991 from their hometown of Blackwood, Wales, as self-styled "Generation Terrorists." Fashioning themselves after the Clash and the Sex Pistols, the Manics were on a mission, intending to restore revolution to rock & roll at a time when Britain was dominated by trancey shoegazers and faceless, trippy acid house. Their self-consciously dangerous image,...
