halcyon days
I Totally forgot how different and soulful this album was until I rediscovered it on iTunes.Back in my school days this represented working class soul straight from the heart and mind of people with something to really say.Great brass and smooth basslines mixed with harsh politically tinged lyrics.But basically just great songwriting with an edge to it.Worth a listen just to guess which bands could of been influenced by this type of music.
socialist rock
This is a superb album that hasn't dated in the 20 years since it was first released. The Redskins took the skinhead sound and look and returned it to it's left-wing roots. They didn't just use socialist posturing but were active revolutionaries as members of the Socialist Workers Party, prefering to do miners benefits than champagne receptions at the Groucho! After only 1 album the contradictions of Marxism and Rock'n'Roll became insurmountable and the band split to spend more time on political activity. Politics you can dance to! Tracks like "Kick Over The Statues" and Keep On Keeping On" sound as fresh and relevant today as they did two decades ago. Soulful and passionate, I'm sure I wasn't the only person inspired into political activity by this little gem of an album.
Underated
This album is so good its unbeleivable ! very underated even when it first came out , the songs are realy catchy not a bad one on the album, anyone could listen to this and enjoy it. I went to see them live in bristol in 1987 and they played their socks off.
