Hot New Talent
Being 47 and hugely unaware of what's going on musically these days, it's rare that new artists and bands make any kind of impression on me. Jools Hollands 'Later' is a great aid to folk like me, and provides a concise source of fine music - new, old and revitalised. Two artists who have jumped out of the screen for me as outstanding in the past year or so, are K T Tunstall and this little treasure. Laura Marling has an incredibly mature lyrical talent, combined with an understated performance that just makes you sit up and listen to her georgeous songs and beautiful delivery. Can't wait to hear more. I just hope that she gets her wish (as interviewed on the BBC Website) to record with Tom Waits. They both have unique and individual styles that would complement each other perfectly. Wonderful stuff that keeps one's interest in, and love of, music alive!
