The Automatic - Good First Album but a bit "Samey"

This is a decent album. I heard the songs 'Raoul', 'Recover' and 'Monster' (though at first annoying, grew on me) as well as 'On the Campaign Trail' . The problem began when I decided I would purchase the album. What I found was that the other songs although decent, were amost like composite re-hashes of the same song. The novel backing singer who screams and wails in the background works for some of the time but eventually I just wished he would shut up!! Anyway, I like this band and hope to catch them at the Reading Festival - when they are great they're great but when they fall short its disappointing - WHATS THAT COMING OVER THE HILL - Be careful out there!

Great but not as good as expected

The 3 singles that came before this album (Recover, Raoul and then Monster) made this upcoming album very promising indeed, but these 3 tracks are about the only real highlights of the album. There are others, such as That's What She Said, ehich offer some serious quality, but really the tracks just sound exactly the same and after a few listens to the album, become dull. The squeeky and computerised background voice gets highly annoying as the album wears on, as it in included in every track. This voice also makes this band in danger of sounding too much like The Offspring, whose lead singer sings in a catchy, high-pitched voice that is great to start with but then becomes tedious and you just want to say f**k off to it. However apart from these criticisms I still feel that this is an impressive album from The Automatic but hope that they can back off on the background voice in future albums.

Fantastic 1st Album - Recommended

Monster was an amazing single with a 'Monster' video to boot, the earlier single 'Raoul' was cool. Now we are treated to a full album that proves that this is a band to be watched. Stand out tracks include the singles, 'Seriously Guys...I Hate You' and 'On the Campaign Trail'. Great lyrics, cool riffs and songs that stick in the mind. This is just a great album you will be listening to over and over. A very impressive debut album that deserves a place in your collection. Download it now and you won't be disappointed! All this plus great album artwork by D-Face!
