iTunes Review

While My Bloody Valentine served up a dense wall of aggressive sound, Ride took a less confrontational approach as it helped define the shoegazer movement. Nowhere is a shimmering whirl of sound, with harmonies and melodies that recall the psychedelic '60s while the guitar tones ramp up the electronics of the late '70s through to 1990, when this album was released. It's a work of subtle and overt genius. Drummer Laurence Colbert deserves special distinction, for it's his Keith Moon–like beats that add crazy excitement to the squalls of "Seagull" and the otherwise laidback groove of "Kaleidoscope". Mark Gardener and Andy Bell use their vocals to both follow the melodies and weave an aura. "In a Different Place" is simply beautiful. Alan Moulder's mix ensures the band's sonics find their best expression. The 11-track version of the album includes the band's Fall EP, while the 15-track version adds the Today Forever EP for even more trance-inducing richness. A bargain at any price.

Not even an overstatement

When I claim this is the greatest album ever.
Maybe a little but still...
The remaster sounds great.
Love always

Nowhere

Awesome and complicated. This was the type of album you listened to solitary on your own, locked in your bedroom going through teenage adolescence.
One of the greatest, underrated albums of the 90's. Very deep and takes numerous plays to understand the complexity of Ride and their debut album. oh and something to smoke maybe!
Watched them support Charlatans on their combined Day Tripper tour Brighton and Blackpool.

Most amazing download you will ever make in your life

This music will shape the way you think from this to Metronomy and your life of music forever, not forgetting the indisputable RADIOHEAD !

With their first records, Ride created a unique wall of sound that relied on massive, trembling distortion in the vein of My Bloody Valentine but with a simpler, more direct melodic approach. The shatteringly loud, droning neo-psychedelia the band performed was dubbed shoegazing by the British press because the bandmembers stared at the stage while they performed. Along with their initial influence, My Bloody Valentine, Ride stood apart from the shoegazing pack, primarily because of their keen sense...
