Sunny weather and the Bees - Lovely

So I'm sitting here revising when it's lovely weather outside. No worries however because listening to the Bees makes me feel like I'm out there enjoying the Sunshine. The Isle of Wight remains a timewarp it seems, as the Bees still sound like they should have been plying their trade in the 60s but were so relaxed they got lost along the way and ended up delighting us in the here and now with their Hammond and brass driven delights influenced by soul, jazz and a whole bunch of other genres that puts their music beyond simple definitions. Octopus is more relaxed than their last effort "Free the Bees" and strikes more of a middle ground between that release and their debut, the chilled out "Sunshine Hit Me." As such there's not a bad track on "Octopus" but it doesn't have the every other track is a potential single feel of "Free the Bees." Stand out tracks after the first couple of listens include "Love in the Harbour," the shuffling "Listening Man," bilingual "The Ocularist" and "Hot One!" A perfect album to relax to in the sunshine that prooves the Bees are indeed one of Britain's most underated bands. I have a feeling this band could continue to delight us with their brilliant music for years to come. However if you're new to the wonderful world of the Bees then buy "Free the Bees" first - it's still their best work so far.

They are back with a taste of summer!

If your thinking about buying this album, do it! Its great from start to finish! The first couple of tracks have a country feel to them, the rest are a mix of genres! This album has a ska/reggae feel, but has plenty more to offer for example the hints of brass in the appearing in some of the songs. This album is slick with a cuban/mexican style! Its the perfect music to relax too! I think this is the best Bees album to date! My only complaint is it could be longer! Top marks lads!!!!!!

They're back

The Bees are back with a cracker of an album. It is their finest yet. After their slightly dubious 'dreaded' second album, they have produced a really special album. They were given time by their record company to make this album, recorded and produced in their own studio on The Isle of White. A classy sound is carried throughout R&B, Dub, and jazz to name but a few. 'Love in the Harbour' is a really beautiful summer song. Worth every penny. If in doubt dont hesitate to buy this.
