One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours

Fightstar are an amazing band. I first found these out when they released Hazy Eyes and since then i have been a massive fan. I bough the fantstic EP, They Like Better When Your Dead and their debut album, Grand Unification, so i just had to buy this. Alot of bands recentlently release a fantstic debut then let them selves go in the hype. But Fightstar came and released a masterpiece album. Any Fightstar fan needs this album. One of my favourite songs from the album is Floods, its amazing and epic and builds into a great rock song. The piano intro leads into a intense guitar riff. Another favourite of mine is Tannhauser Gate, this is one of the heaviest songs from the album and is immense. Fightstar do not disappoint on this album. One Day Son gets 9/10. Top 6 1 - Floods 2 - Tannhauser Gate 3 - Deathcar 4 - We Apologies For Nothing 5 - Our Last Common Ancestor 6 - Unfamiliar Ceilings Song Ratings 99 - 9/10 We Apologies For Nothing - 9.5/10 Floods - 10/10 One Day Son - 9/10 Deathcar - 10/10 I am The Message - 8/10 You & I - 9/10 Amaze Us - 9/10 H.I.P (Enough) - 8/10 Tannhauser Gate - 10/10 Our Last Common Ancestor - 10/10 Unfamiliar Ceilings - 10/10

Stunning work

It really is stunning, I wish people would just listen to this band before they judged them. Musically brilliant, vocally brilliant, and extremely well written structured songs. One of the best rock bands in the UK... better than FFAF right now...

Amazing Parts Intertwined With Awful Endings.

Opener "99" is an update on the quiet openings of 2006's Grand Unification and it is undeniably strong track. "We Apologise For Nothing" has a light more melodic song but still has a strong surge."Floods" is the first song that features piano as an intro and the song really speaks to you. "One Day Son" has the biggest parts on the album and is packed with an aggressive yet controlled feel. "Deathcar" is an absolute brutal massacre of a song that is a defining metal part in Fightstar's career. "I Am The Message" is another potential 'best fightstar song to date' but "You And I" and "Amaze Us" are both fit for a stadium show setlist. "H.I.P (Enough)" is a weak track and brings the album to a slow ending. "Tannhauser Gate" is a rough blast of pure musical knowledge. "Our Last Common Ancestor" and "Unfamiliar Ceilings" however, end the album in awful style and leave you feeling dissapointed. The Best Bits: "We Apologise For Nothing", "I Am The Message", "Amaze Us" and "Tannhauser Gate" The Worst Bits: "Our Last Common Ancestor" and "Unfamiliar Ceilings" 7/10

Years Active: '00s

London-based post-hardcore outfit Fightstar came to life in the mid-2000s when guitarist/vocalist Charlie Simpson was actually still a member of the U.K. pop trio Busted. Itching to tap more fully into his rock side, a random jam at a party soon turned into Simpson writing and playing songs on the side with guitarist Al Westaway and drummer Omar Abdid. Realizing they needed a bass player to enter the studio, a schoolmate of Westaway's, Dan Haigh, soon joined Fightstar's ranks. Rehearsing and playing...
