Album Review

A grab bag of extended mixes and otherwise neglected moments from the Human League's catalog, focusing on Dare! through Romantic?, Original Remixes & Rarities is a useful accessory for fans but — unsurprisingly — it's not the least bit essential for anyone else. Highlights include the extended versions of "Sound of the Crowd," "Don't You Want Me" (which is also instrumental), "Life on Your Own," and "The Lebanon," as well as a dub of "(Keep Feeling) Fascination" and the relatively irascible version of "Being Boiled" that appeared on Travelogue (the only inclusion that dates from the League's pre-coed lineup).

Shut Up Wingers

OK here's a reality check for all you wingers out there who have slagged this off, yes The Human League do need cash for their next album, this compilation however has been put together by EMI to cash in on them as a group because at the moment their touring up and down jolly old England and hey thought EMI why not. Fair enough it's not an exceptional album, but if you were a true fan then you wouldn't moan about it and hell if it's cheaper somewhere else as one of you suggested then go and buy it from them then. In fact here's a thought if your really into them maybe you ought to cough up for a copy of their last album Secrets which sadly is lacking on the uk site but readily available from Amazon. A it will definitely give them some much needed cash and respect as the media of the good old UK didn't even give it the timeof day when it was released in 2001 and not even played on air anywhere in the UK. Respect to Phil Oakey, the girls and a fantastic backing band who whipped up a storm at Edinburgh on the 13th December best gig I've been too in ages and bar 50 seats a packed Usher Hall. So give them respect and get secrets NOW Also if your into the whole Electronic revival can I suggest you also listen to Hoboken a cross between, Depeche Mode, Heaven 17, Kraftwerk and Ultravox latest video at http://www.backroom.clara.co.uk/hoboken/index.html

Why?

Save your cash.

Glaring absence

Any Human League collection that doesn't include "Love Action" comes up woefully short
