Album Review
As polished as A Secret Wish was, Propaganda could get edgy, dissonant, and downright freaky on their 12"s with the help of studio wizard and remixer Trevor Horn. Outside World collects some of the best and hardest-to-find mixes into one neat package. It's great for the hardcore, but new fans should not start here. Many of the different titles are actually just different mixes of the same song, with "Dr Mabuse" taking up 20 minutes of the CD alone in its varying shapes and forms. Fanatics should seek out the German version, which adds a DVD.

Still sounds fresh
Maybe I'm biased, but to my ears, this sounds as fresh and interesting today as it did when I first heard it, ahem, 20 odd years ago. Propaganda were arguably the most musically creative band to come out of the ZTT stable and this album goes a long way to show that.
Duel
The first time I heard Duel I was mightily impressed. I can listen to this one single track over and over and remain mesmerised by the mixture of unusual voice and impressive production.

As sad as it is, Propaganda will possibly be my all-time fav band. German, slightly dark & a tad sexy to boot.. I cut my 'musical teeth' on this stuff so it will always hold something special to me (like listening my Secret wish tape to death on my walkman - so much I wore the bugger out).. so if you like it European & 80'ish give it a try - then check out some more of Claudia Brucken's other stuff (Act etc)..
