Alternative Universe of Pop
You have to assume that somewhere out in space, in some other dimension, the Lilac Time are the biggest band in the world - it could be the only reasonable explination for their inexplicable lack of success on this one. Whilst later Lilac Time albums drift towards the stripped down Paradise Circus sees them in or around their absolute peak of attempting to take the pop charts by storm. The lyrical wonder and melodic nouse of Stephen Duffy have since been purloined for Robbie Williams's latest album which Stephen co wrote and produced. The follow up to the self titled Lilac Time, Paradise Circus was followed by And Love For All, forming the Lilac Time's Trinity of albums for Fontana - a trio of albums celebrated with the compilation 'Compendium' - but worth investigating as whole albums.
