a gorgeous british take on sondheim
michael ball and maria freidman are superb in the two lead roles in stephen sondheim's 'passion'. its the story of an italian soldier (michael ball) who is having an affair with a beautiful married woman (helen hobson). they are seperated after giorgio is posted to a remote italian town where he meets fosca (maria friedman) a strange isolated woman who is the cousin of his colonel. the big songs to look out for are 'happiness' with michael ball and helen hobson in a passionate duet, maria friendman's 'i wish i could forget you and 'loving you'. ball fans should also go for 'no one has ever loved me'.
