Superior follow-up to Focal Point

Paul is one of an increasing number of artists producing and marketing music on their own terms, and P'dice is a great advert for that DIY approach, demonstrating that you can do it yourself without compromising on quality.

Focal point was good, but this album outdoes its predecessor in pretty much every respect, from song-writing to performance to production values. The involvement of immensely talented drummers Gavin Harrison & Marco Minnemann simply underlines the professionalism and craftsmanship on offer here.

If you are unfamiliar with Paul's work and are looking for reference points, think Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree or Peter Gabriel. You'll here echoes of these and other artists throughout P'dice, but rest assured that Paul's sound is distinctive rather than derivative.

You'll find a mixture of song styles here: rocky, up-tempo numbers like "Everything" and the excellent "You Know"; darker, more atmospheric pieces like "God, Paper, Scissors" and the slow-burning 11-minute epic "Borderlines"; and quieter, more contemplative tracks such as "Hindsight", "Feel This Way" and the melancholic "When It Rains".

Highly recommended.

Really, really amazing!

Thank God for Facebook, as without it, I doubt I would have got to hear of this amazing and talented singer/songwriter. I bought his debut album Focal Point on the strength of hearing one track, and loved the whole album. As soon as I heard about the pre order for P'dice, I decided to go for it. The wait was long but well worth every minute. This album, whilst being TOTALLY original in every way, has influences of Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Frost, with a few acoustic guitar sections reminiscent of Steve Hackett with early Genesis. The album is beautifully produced, and the lyrics create a hard hitting, thought provoking and emotional roller coaster for the listner. Paul is a multi-instrumentalist, and plays all instruments except Drums. These were filled by Gavin Harrison and Marco Minnemann. My personal favourite tracks are the 11 minute epic `Borderlines', and `Waiting', which features the stunning backing vocals of Sammi Lee. Having said that, there is not a bad track on the entire album. If you are serious about great music, this album is for you. You will not be disappointed.
