Brilliant!
I've been waiting for a Stillman album to come out ever since I heard his debut EP 'Weightless' and became hooked. 'Stillman' (Chaz Craik) is a musical genius. If you like Turin Brakes, Sparklehorse and The Flaming Lips you will completely love this album. From the beautiful 'Stillborn Moon' and irresistibly catchy 'Hand That Feeds' to the gorgeous raw chorus in 'People Like A Happy Ending' this album interweaves heart-felt lyrics and delicate melodies with intermittent dark beats, twisting and turning to keep you wanting more. I cannot single out any track on this album they are all amazing. Each song has something unique and special about it. You'll have it on repeat for weeks! I cannot recommend 'People Like A Happy Ending' enough. 10/10
People like great new music...
... and this certainly doesn't disappoint!! Sounding like a very early Death Cab for Cutie, Stillman's first album rocks in as one of the best I've heard this year. I can't get enough of Jack-in-a-Box, Fading Fast and Stillborn Moon. Blisters is a personal favourite, with melancholic lyrics lifted by the arrangement. The whole album is full of beautiful music and dark lyrics that are strangely upbeat, connecting to the depths of your soul. Play it a few times, and you'll find yourself as hooked as the melodies. On each play you'll discover something new in there you hadn't noticed before. Don't miss out on an amazing album! And if you ever get the chance to see Stillman playing live, don't miss it!
