Karajan and Callas, a match made in heaven.

The quality of this performance is magnificent, I think it might have been recorded sometime in the 50's, the quality isn't perfect but it's amazing for the time. There are a few clicks during the humming chorus but they are inconsequential, when compared to the rest of the recording. Maria Callas is on top form, her voice pierces the orchestra like a lightning bolt in a clear sky. The sound of Karajan is ever present, the emotion that Karajan creates is unparalleled. Classical music just isn't the same without him!
