Lost for words

I've never been knocked to the floor by any album I've ever bought. Pure changed that. Hayley Westenra's voice is truly something, and the Classical arrangements are a perfect backdrop for her voice. The album first came to my attention a few weeks' ago, when I heard [Across the Universe of Time], a mesmerizing track. After hearing the album in full a few times, it is no longer my favorite. [Pokarekare Ana], [River of Dreams], [Benedictus], [Hine e hine], [Dark Waltz], and [Heaven] are now my most treasured favorites. There were only two tracks I disliked: [Wuthering Heights] (Kate Bush's rendition, whilst not perfect, was much more emotional) and [Amazing Grace] (a little too strained). Recently I also bought Kate Bush - Aerial, and as a long-time Kate Bush fan, I had waited 12 years' for that album. Pure is such a refreshing change. Goodbye Kate, Hello Hayley. Executive summary: Pure gold. Now if only it was available in 24-bit format...

Westenra's voice is an operatic instrument and she has performed with the New Zealand Opera and Orchestra.
