Rachmaninov Piano Concertos 2 & 3
This is certainly among my top 5 recordings of these works - and it is a very competitive field. The clarity, deftness and integrity of Trpceski's playing remind me of the original Rachmaninov recordings though he is far less self conscious. Nothing gets in the way of the music and the orchestral accompaniments are thrilling, lucid and searching. The recent live performance of no. 2 at the proms was a little more adventurous but probably far less liveable with over a prolonged time as this fine recording.
