iTunes Review
Razorlight's eponymous second album not only avoids the sophomore slump, it refines the disparate influences of their promising debut into a more satisfying — if deja vu-prone — whole. While there's no denying the UK band wear their Rock of the 80s affections proudly on their sleeves throughout — particularly on the rambunctious, INXS-mugs-Boomtown Rats opener "In the Morning" and the early U2 influences of "Pop Song 2006" — songwriter/frontman Johnny Borrell uses them as building blocks, rather than mere touchstones. Borrell may channel some vintage Chrissie Hynde angst into "Hold On," but he also seems to have discovered where it all began on "Before I Fall to Pieces" and "Who Needs Love," tracks that recall the '50s in general and Dion in particular. Borrell's bandmates also rise to the occasion, with Bjorn Agren's focused guitar licks underscoring the album's stripped-down pop economy. The effervescent UK chart-topper "America" contrasts sharply with the ambitious, sprawling drama of the closing "Los Angeles Waltz," an arc that better argues the band's true range and potential.

Album Of 2006...
...for sure - I can't believe so many people are slating it, I can only presume they were waiting for the slightest slip-up. So this album hasn't got the party sound of the fantastic 'Up All Night', but this, as NME stated, is the morning after record. Standouts are the awesome 'Who Needs Love', 'Before I Fall To Pieces', 'I Can't Stop This Feeling I've Got', 'Back To The Start' and 'Los Angeles Waltz'. 'America' should be heard & enjoyed by every1 in the world - what a song, as it was the first time I heard it on 17th July at Lancashire County Cricket Ground. So all you people who are moaning - shut up and enjoy a completely different album, relax & listen to this 35 minute masterpiece!
What a tragedy
After getting on the British rock band wagon up all night was truly a classic... Why would a band who seemed to have the same energy and enthusiasm such as bands like the libertines, the strokes... would they produce nothing more than a pop/rock album I am highly disappointed !! lets just remember "Razorlight" for the debut album !! And hope they can recapture that form!
Too too good for your ears!
Theres a reason theres only 10 songs, because its quality over quantity cause all the songs are 5/5. Lots of different influences can be seen here, john lennon piano led "who needs love?" for example. My faves are america, i fall to pieces and los angeles waltz. Plus theres the 2 songs youve heard b4 in kirbys house and in the morning!! Just too good!
