Set the controls for the heart of the Sun
This is a great cover of the Pink Floyd classic. Whilst being nothing like the original it manages to be a great vehicle for the lyrics ! Style wise it is very 80s influenced starting with a pulsating synth which soon develops in to a solid danceable rhythm
incorporating stylish psychedelic textures with middle eastern percussion and wild lead guitar !
A perfect introduction to the world of 'Expandis'

Pink Floyd song covered well by 80's psychedelic electronic trio Expandis. The track builds from a mesmerising synth, plaintive vocals sing poeticaly and tell the story of a man at odds with the world. Middle eastern flavours mix well with soul stirring guitar.
The video is unsettling in its simplicity, with one camera focused on the lunatic face of the singer who clearly is not well.
Overall a great performance of a Floyd classic. 5 stars!

This track is fantastic !!
Its a refreshing new take on a much loved classic.
The original Pink Floyd version of this song is quite dark and intense and very dynamic, the vocals are whispered, slowly building up in to an intense farfisa organ led instrumental jam! ( I would recommend the 'Live at Pompeii' version if you have never heard the song before) classic 'psychedelia' !!
This 'expandis' version however is in my view lighter in tone, more up tempo and built around more of a song format. Having said that it does still build up in to some gripping guitar based instrumental sections !
This approach to the song sheds new light on the lyrics, highlighting the personal perspective yet still sending out that good old 'space cadet glow'
If your new to the song you might want to get both versions, if you know the original then you need to hear this !!!
