A Pure Songbird
Eva Cassidy is one of the greatest losses to music in recording history. Her beautiful tones, passion and emotion leave most current singers in the shade. This album will give you a great taste of her stunning voise and make you want to get the other albums she recorded before her sad death way before her time.
If you can get it, find the live recording of her singing at Blues Alley, it will blow you away. If you don't have these songs already, Simply Eva is an absolute must have for your collection.
so pure and fresh
Lovely to hear just her voice and guitar playing. Nice to hear a 'new' song, i.e. San Francisco Bay Blues, previously unavailable. However, some of her vocal performances are 'better' on other versions of these songs, particularly the live 'Autumn Leaves' on the Blues Alley recordings. She seemed to really turn it on live. An absolute crime that she died virtually penniless... The purity, soul and raw beauty of her voice is/was unrivalled in my opinion.
