iTunes Review

Don’t be fooled by Lily Allen’s charming, pixie voice and singsong delivery — this gal’s a firecracker. Armed with a razor wit and a sailor’s vocabulary, she delivers biting lyrics and humorous insults with attitude and sass, and revels in playing the jaded, cynical girl. Jammed with catchy hooks and clever samples, some of these songs are positively addictive, in particular three infectious slices of ska-soaked pop: “Smile” gleefully mocks the tears of an ex-boyfriend; “LDN” details a stroll through the seedier streets of London amidst a host of criminals and other social deviants; and “Not Big” is a lengthy putdown about a former lover’s shortcomings. Another standout is “Knock ‘Em Out,” a hilarious take about having to endure unwanted advances at a club that makes brilliant use of a rolling Professor Longhair piano lick. Blatantly irreverent and snotty, Allen clearly loves mixing barbs with her beats and it’s nearly impossible not to laugh along with her.

A breath of fresh air.

Downloaded the album and throughly enjoying it. Its a breath of fresh air which certainly brings a smile to your face. Having read the other reviews I think people should maybe lighten up a tad, or perhaps change their music preferences, rather than putting their energy into casting their aspersions of Miss Allen. I downloaded an album to enjoy it, and that was the end result.

Great fun!! Every song is fantastic!

A friend recommended a I heard Little things when I told her I split from my boyfriend. It made me tearful and I bought the album. After hearing the rest of the album, I was creasing up, this is so spot on to young people, the songs are smartly writen and I will recommed everyone I know buy it. I haven't perchased a great album for a long long time. Its not even my usual type of music but this is fantastic! Littlest things, friend of mine and everythings just wonderful hit a personal spot for me, Great therapy!! Its made me laugh so much, I would love to shake this girls hand.

A good joke...that should not be told again

This album is like a great joke....when you first hear it it's hysterical and fun, but after hearing it a few more times it get's tiresome and irritating. The songs are decent, but the lyrics are so sloppy and tiresome......her singing is avaerage at best (she is awful live) and nothing here is original. I believe this album will be a success......but how far can the joke go?!? I don't see longegivity in her career.

Biography

Born: 1985 in Hammersmith, London, England

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '00s

With her omnivorous musical tastes and cheeky attitude, London-based pop singer/songwriter Lily Allen made a name for herself almost as soon as she released her demos on the Internet. The daughter of comedian Keith Allen, Lily spent most of her childhood bouncing from one school to another — in fact, she attended 13 different schools between the ages of five and 15. This constant moving meant she didn't have much of a chance to make lasting friendships, so Allen entertained herself with books...
