I was never much into Folk, then I discovered Megson
This follow-up album way exceeds expectations. Debbie's voice is more beautiful and powerful than ever, and the diversity of songs show how far this band have come. "Floodwater" is such an evocative track and "I lied" takes you back to long summer days of youth and makes me smile every time I hear it. Go and see them live and you will be even more impressed by Stu Hanna's brilliant guitar and mandola playing.
A great discovery
Had never heard of this group before, was fortunate enough to hear them perform at regents park open air theatre (Aug 2007), bought the album from Itunes that evening. Very good songs, lovely lyrics, amazing instrument playing beautiful harmonies and Debbie Palmer is gorgeous. What more could you want?
Breath of fresh air
A great album and was fortunate to have seen them live on board the MV Ella in the NE last night at the launch party for their new release "Take yourself a wife". A collection of traditional NE songs ranging from the 1700's to 1900's with a loving fresh feel that only Megson could acheive. Megson should be set for bigger things and deservedly so. If you can get to see them live, do it!
