Don't get up and dance just yet...
After being blown away by their "Beats for Bars" projects which I heard on Xfm, I was eager to hear what these guys would release on their debut album. The result - pleasantly surprised.... It's not relentless beats, or relentless anything. It's nicely chilled and beautifully crafted. There are collaborations with Jon Klein (Siouxsie and The Banshees) and Anna Jacyzsyn (what a voice!), and appearances by the likes of Marc Bolan, John Peel and Billie Holiday. This more like a compilation album, but remixed and done in the Caned & Able way (whatever that is). This is an album that works in so many contexts, you can play it any time and it will always make you and your friends smile. Knowing their past history as DJ's, I'll assume that the follow up to this album will be called "Mirrors", and then who knows what we'll get! I like the plan.
