Cracking Frenzal album!

I've given Smoko At The Pet Food Factory a good few spins now and I really like it.

It's the classic Frenzal sound which is awesome - only with this band could a 2.32" song feel a bit long!

I reckon this one is a bit better as an album than their last one Forever Malcolm Young.

Topical lyrics as usual, Jay can't really sing, but he's got funny going for him! Some nice guitar-ing from the Doctor.

Gordy's sounds as if he's about to smash the kit through the floor and Tom's bass playing is awesome on this album.

There's some top tracks in there like Mummy Doesn't Know You're A Nazi, Edward Sausage Hands, Dead Celebrity and When My Baby Smiles At Me I Go To Rehab.

Great to see they're back on Fat Wreck too, hopefully we'll see them touring a bit more often!

I've given it four out of five as it's not quuuuite as awesome as their best album Sans Souci, but hey, you can't make an album like that too often.

Top album, if you're a Frenzal fan grab it.

Solid Frenzal album

When I first gave smoko at the pet food factory a listen I was relieved to hear that they have returned to a sound that is similar to the sans souci and meet the family albums.

It's a polished album with dominant vocals, loud guitars that change from song to song, and the drums a crisp and cut through to be easily heard in every song. The bass sound is lost at times, but it's always there making the sound more full.

The lyrical content though funny as it always is seems a little somber by comparison to their older albums.

I think that Jay's singing has improved a lot over the years and it's well complimented by the ever present backing vocals.

Stand out tracks for me are knuckleheads, 5000 cigarettes, hungry jacks car park, mummy doesn't know you're a nazi, back to the suburbs and when my baby smiles at me I go to rehab.

Smoko is a fantastic album or any FR fan. I loved the band for over 15 years and have grown up with their music so for me it's a definite 5 star album.
